LTA National Runner-up for Disability Programme of the Year 2018

Jimmy’s Tennis Disability programme in association with Frindsbury LTC

This award winning programme provided by Jimmys Tennis based at Frindsbury has the largest LD tennis programme in the UK, currently at 294 players per week, mixture of old and young, male and female. The sessions are welcomed by all participants who very much enjoy their hit. Some may only hit the ball once some have been able to to rallies, its made into fun for them, their carers and families.

Frindsbury have their own sports chairs, so families are welcomed onto court for their family time together, putting all in chairs, its definitely a great family fun session.

COACHING PROGRAMME

At Frindsbury LTC the focus is on enjoyment of the tennis. Appreciating that serious competition is not for everyone, the coaching team and club run a number of less formal events, such as family tournaments and fun days, exhibition matches and charity events.

For those who wish to develop their playing skills, the coaching team provides player development pathways for all ages and abilities, through adult and junior beginner group sessions and individual lessons. Jim also supports the development of those who want to become a coach or involved in tennis as a linesman, umpire or other official.

Junior coaching programme

Coaching for those up to 10 years old follows the LTA Mini Tennis programme. Smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls are used, these becoming progressively closer to full-sized as players progress.

  • Orange – ages 8–9 years

  • Green – ages 9–10 years
